About Castle Medical Center (Now known as Adventist Health Castle)

Opened in 1963 and located near Kailua and Kaneohe, Castle Medical Center (Now known as Adventist Health Castle) is a source of excellence for healthcare on the Windward Side of Oahu. It is operated by Adventist Health, a Seventh-day Adventist healthcare system. The state-of-the-art robotic knee program is the only program on the island of Oahu that provides robotic knee surgery. Adventist Health Castle is a 160-bed, nonprofit hospital that provides private rooms to its hip and knee replacement patients.

The service area includes Kailua, Kaneohe, Waimanalo and extends up to Kahuku and Laie.

Adventist Health Castle is the first hospital, and only one of two hospitals on the island of Oahu to earn the Blues Distinction Center Plus from Blue Cross Blue Shield for hip and knee replacements. This Blue Cross Blue Shield distinction is rewarded only for hospitals that demonstrate their expertise and efficiency in delivering hip and knee replacements.

The Joints Center prepares its patients for surgery with the help of a Joint Replacement class, preoperative clinic, and co-ordination with the orthopedic joints nurse navigator. Prior to surgery, all patients will attend a joint replacement education class and visit the preoperative clinic to ensure that their medical problems are optimized. After your hip or knee replacement, the orthopedic joints nurse navigator rounds with the surgeon and ensures a smooth transition to leaving the hospital. Following surgery, each patient undergoes an individualized physical therapy program and stays in a private room that is not shared with other patients. Case managers are available to help with the equipment and services needed after discharge.

There are some unique services provided by Castle. Daily complimentary flowers are provided to each patient. The food provided within the facility is focused on vegan and vegetarian options. Some meals may contain eggs or dairy, but no meat options are available. This food program is designed around providing a healthy, well-balanced diet. Parking within the facility is free and handicap accessible.
