Hip & knee care in Kailua-Kona
Kea‘au-raised and fellowship-trained, Dr. Morton runs clinics on both sides of Hawai‘i Island. The Kona office on Hualalai Road brings his hip & knee expertise to West Hawai‘i — with Mako robotic hip and knee replacement available on-island.
A Big Island surgeon, on both sides of the island
Dr. Morton grew up in Kea‘au and came home after training at the University of Hawai‘i's medical school, the University of Chicago (hip & knee reconstruction), and Charité Berlin (trauma). His Big Island ties run through Kona specifically: he performed the island's first robotic-assisted joint replacement at Kona Community Hospital in March 2022. Today he holds regular clinic days at the Hualalai Road office in Kailua-Kona alongside the Hilo clinic.

Where surgery happens for Kona patients
Clinic care happens in Kailua-Kona; surgery is planned deliberately. Most robotic hip and knee replacements are performed on-island at Hilo Community Surgery Center with Stryker's Mako robot — planned in 3D from a CT scan of your own joint, and a drive across the island instead of a flight to O‘ahu. Complex reconstructions and revision work may still be scheduled at O‘ahu facilities through the interisland program: telehealth and Kona visits before, one planned trip for surgery, then recovery and follow-up back home with a written plan. Ask about neighbor-island travel-assistance benefits — some Hawai‘i plans help with airfare for off-island care.
